Dedicated Player: Trevor Lawrence Breaks Jacksonville Record With 4 Consecutive Days Sobriety

Out of the 23 starting quarterbacks the Jacksonville Jaguars have had since joining the NFL in 1995, none have ever been as dedicated to their health as Trevor Lawrence. In fact, the health nut is so freakishly committed to physical fitness, sources say he has gone an amazing four consecutive days without alcohol — smashing the existing Jacksonville record of five hours.

It is no surprise the most-winning NCAA quarterback in history has continued breaking records — not to mention the Jacksonville mold — each and everyday.  Besides the sobriety record, Lawrence has managed to log stats like “most beers turned down in one week,” “most hours into a concussion before drinking,” and “lowest B.A.C. in a post-game interview,” with a near perfect 0.2.

Jaguars’ Coach Doug Pederson has nothing but praise for Lawrence’s regime. “His methods are unorthodox, and frankly weird. But they work,” said Pederson, who says not being “blitzed on juice” or “cranked out on horse, at minimum” is nearly unheard of for the Jacksonville team —  and the town at large. Pederson admits that he, himself, could never imagine getting through a Jaguars’ film session without getting blackout drunk.

Though supported by his coach, the former-Clemson star has garnered criticism from the Jacksonville press, who call his actions “offensive and divisive” and “an affront to local culture.” Still, Lawrence remains unphased. “Maybe it’s a superstition to only take pills prescribed to me and only binge drink on weekends, but I’ve found this ritual has always improved my onfield performance,” he said, pointing out games where he had played violently drunk in the past have ended in losses.

Yet, former Jags’ quarterback Blake Bortles warned Jacksonvillians not to buy into health fads by young players. “They’re trying to take the easy way out. If I was seeing 11 defensemen instead of 22, I’m sure I would have won some games, too.”
