Is It Too Soon To Be Concerned About The 76ers?

A recent poll taken in the Greater Philadelphia area reveals that a small percentage of Sixers fans are starting to worry about the team’s chances for the 24–25 season. While nobody wants to rock the boat and say they’re “out of the playoffs,” some wonder if their .300 winning percentage and ranking of 13 (of 15) could render them ineligible to win a title this year. Also concerning is the fact that the playoffs are in full swing and the 76ers have yet to make an appearance.

“Typical NBA,” said Frank “Franky” Marchesi, 41, of South Philadelphia. “The whole tournament’s trying to duck us.” According to Marchesi, all the team has to do is vault the Magic, the Heat, the Bulls, the Pacers, the Bucks, “and, like, nine other teams” and they will be sitting on top of the conference. “Who’s number-one now, the Cavs?” said Marchesi. “That doesn’t sound right.”

Most fans feel confident that there’s still “plenty of time” and refuse to lean on things like wins, losses, and games remaining. “That’s how we roll in Philly,” said Tacony resident Gina Falcone, 36. “No math, all vibes. The Sixers are ‘mathematically eliminated’? Here’s some math for you: Iverson’s not even dead. Embiid still has one good knee. And hey, it’s only April.”
