Peyton and Eli Pretty Awkward Around Each Other with No Monday Night Football to Talk About

It’s Monday.

Despite ESPN’s “The Manningcast” becoming a smash hit due to Peyton and Eli Manning’s insightful football analysis and discussions. With the NFL season behind us, sources say the brothers are finding it harder to make conversation, especially at the start of the week.

“When there’s a game on, it’s easy. There’s always a play to break down or a quarterback who’s disappointing me,” Peyton said. “Now, Eli and I don’t know what to talk about. We just FaceTime each other in silence.”

As the brothers sat quietly on the family couch, Peyton tried to break the ice by asking if Eli had read any good books lately. Eli had not picked up a book since he finished ‘Football For Dummies’ two years ago, which stalled the conversation right there.

“The boys have always had a hard time talking about stuff that wasn’t football,” their mother, Olivia Manning, told us. “When they were kids, they were best buds if the game was on. But if it wasn’t? Crickets. And God forbid the power went out. They’d just sit there and growl at each other.

After several more failed conversations, it seemed like Payton and Eli were destined to sit in awkward silence for the rest of the offseason. That was, until Olivia Manning flipped on NFL network, which was showing a rerun of the week 6 Titans/Cardinals game. Instantly, Payton excitedly began breaking down route schematics, while Eli called Bill Burr to come over.

“It’s a good thing teams keep playing extra games.” Peyton said, relieved. “I almost considered talking to Cooper! But then I thought, ‘better to leave him locked in the basement.’”
