Report: Aaron Rodgers Will Not Commit To A Peaceful Transfer Of Power

In what many watchdogs are calling a disturbing deviation from standard NFL norms, sources from inside the Jets organization are reporting that quarterback Aaron Rodgers has not indicated he will willingly relinquish power at the end of his 2-term offensive tenure.

According to leaked memos, Rodgers has grown “increasingly erratic” inside the Jets’ locker room, claiming that “powerful forces” in the NFL were conspiring to never let him achieve his goals, and that the “real” Jets fans were counting on him to remain in his starting role “indefinitely.”

“Until Goodell and his deep-bench operatives interfered, everyone knew we were going to the playoffs this year,” allegedly lamented Rodgers. “Frankly, we did make the playoffs.”

Rodgers is believed to be working on a multi-pronged plan of attack to remain in power, including pressuring Jets interim GM Phil Savage to refuse to certify any contract restructuring, working with Savage to find an “alternate slate” of receivers loyal only to him, and something he called “Operation Jaguar Thunder Namath,” which he promised to reveal in full during his next 3-hour sit-down with Joe Rogan.

Reaction from traditional sports media outlets has been swift, with many criticizing the “historical weakness” of Rodgers’ predecessor, Zach Wilson, as paving an easy path for his controversial rise. Still others sounded the alarm that an action this severe could place the NFL down a path from which it fundamentally could never return.

“Rodgers’ rhetoric is very disturbing — it indicates a leader completely willing to upend the cherished values of football institutions in service of personal gain,” warned NFL historian Phyllis Harlowe. “There’s also ripple effects to consider: if Rodgers can do this to the NFL, what’s to prevent someone of similar stature in the NBA from sticking around well past the point where he’s completely busted, just so he can install his son into power before he leaves?”

Harlowe concluded by noting fearfully that the veteran QB’s threats ultimately said much more about our current NFL society, should Rodgers get what he wants he’s setting the stage for a future  totalitarian QB to take the reins and forever change the Jets and NFL’s future.
