Report: Edmonton Oilers To Be Electric By 2040

Coming off the heels of a Stanley Cup Finals loss to the Florida Panthers last night, the Edmonton Oilers have announced a brighter, newer future. In an effort to become carbon neutral and significantly more efficient on the ice the Oilers have stamped their claim to become entirely electric by 2040.

NASA research has shown that over 75 percent of climate change can be attributed to hockey oil. “The Edmonton Oilers are not sustainable,” said owner Daryl Katz.

Sources close to the situation speculate that Katz has been hearing more outcry from Tesla and electricity lovers, believing a change to electric will be more sustainable and pack a mighty punch. “We all love Connor McDavid, but he is killing our planet.” Some sources have also speculated Katz is tired of getting all his Oilers supplies and utilities from Saudi Arabia.

In an effort to meet their aggressive goal, the Oilers have taken actions such as signing a Windmill at goalie, and making Leon Draisatl the first ever hockey hybrid at backup Center.

The race to an electric hockey team has seen some competition; from Tesla CEO, Elon Musk himself. The richest man on the planet said in a tweet, “Won’t work. Edmonton doesn’t have the resources.” In a follow up, Musk did confirm that, “Tesla will have a hockey team in 2039.”
