We Rank The Top 25 Knicks Coaches Of The Past 10 Years

25. Derrick Fisher—Many will argue Fisher is ranked too low, but we believe his accomplishments speak for themselves.

24. James Dolan—Dolan threatened to sue us if he wasn’t included in this list, so there you go. James Dolan is the 24th best Knicks coach of the past 10 years.

23. Pat Sullivan—We don’t know much about this Knicks assistant, but his name reminds us of legendary NCAAW basketball coach Pat Summit, and we think that’s pretty special.

22. Carmelo Anthony—While not officially listed as a coach, Melo was the architect of the team’s famous “Carmelo Anthony Iso Offense,” which he ran during his seven seasons with the team.

21. Jud Buechler—A former player who won three rings with the Chicago Bulls, it’s hard to deny this Knicks assistant is familiar with the rules of basketball.

20—14. All Seven of Isiah Thomas’s Personalities—”Bad Boy Isiah” was a fan favorite until an altercation with “Sexual Harassment Isiah” lead to the firing of all seven versions of the Hall of Fame point guard.

13. David Fizdale—Fizdale would be higher on this list were it not for his failure to build a winner out of a roster of 15 power forwards.

12. Phil Jackson—Although the 11-time champion head coach technically served as president of the organization, he would frequently watch practices from the sidelines while muttering “triangle offense” under his breath.

11. Mike Woodson—Woodson is remembered fondly by Knicks fans for leading the franchise to its first playoff victory since Madison Square Garden was originally planted in 1879.

10. Jeff Hornacek—Hornacek was 60-104 as head coach of the Knicks, which, believe it or not, is actually pretty good for that organization.

9. Kristaps Porzingis—Like the eldest child in a dysfunctional household, all Knicks stars are expected to coach the team while the real coach is forced to watch James Dolan’s band perform.

8. Kurt Rambis—A talented negotiator, Rambis only had to coach the Knicks for 28 games before convincing the team to replace him.

7. Pete Rambis—Kurt’s youngest son Pete was allowed to draw up one play during a blowout loss to the Hornets, and it almost worked.

6. Mike D’Antoni—D’Antoni was head coach of the Knicks for an astonishing four years, nearly four times as long as the average human being can tolerate working with James Dolan.

5. Lisa Willis—An assistant coach for the Knicks G League affiliate, Willis has been criticized for undoing decades of progress for women in sports by choosing to work for the Knicks.

4. Hurricane Jackson—This is not a real person but imagine how cool a coach with that name would be.

3. Royal Ivey—Knicks assistant Royal Ivey edges out Hurricane Jackson simply because his name is cool and he’s a real person.

2. Mike Miller—The current head coach of the Knicks, Miller nears the top of our list due to the fact that we initially believed this was two-time NBA champion Mike Miller of the Miami Heat.

1. Pat Riley—Although Pat Riley resigned as head coach of the team in 1995, his ability to coach basketball games at a professional level places him foremost amongst the greatest Knicks coaches of the past 10 years.
