“You Can Do It” And Five Other Lies Personal Trainers Tell

Most people think a personal trainers job is to train customers to become stronger and fitter, but really, they only have one job: To lie. Here are some of the worst lies personal trainers tell to “get results.

“You can do it”

If you could do it, you wouldn’t need a personal trainer. Even with a personal trainer, we both know that bar isn’t going to lift off the ground.

“Just breathe”

Oh, and also hold a plank for 15 more seconds. Don’t forget that.

“One more”

There’s going to be lots more. Lots and lots more. Buckle up.

“You got this”

Then why are two stronger men helping you lift that barbell off your body, you pile of garbage.

“Every class is an opportunity”

No, every class is thirty bucks.

“Leave it all on the floor. No regrets.”

You regret it when you go to the gym. You regret it when you don’t. You regret everything from ordering pizza to sliding into their DMs to not pursuing your dreams. Why would this be any different?

“Pain is temporary.”

So are your results, so why not give up now?

Thank your personal trainer for giving you the truest form of motivation, a bold-faced lie.
