Do The Lions Have The Best Practice Squad In Detroit?

There’s no better feeling than coming across a hole-in-the-wall restaurant that offers the best food in the city that no one knows about. Except, of course, finding the best practice squad in the city that nobody knows about. And when it comes to practice squads in the city of Detroit, the one that nobody is talking about that might be the best is the Detroit Lions practice squad.

This rag-tag group of ball players have come far and wide from all over the country to make up an impressive unit. Despite their lack of notoriety, it’s hard to imagine there’s a group out there in this city better than these guys at suiting up Monday through Friday but not on Sunday.

“You want to see the best practice squad in town? Head over to the Lions’ facility at Allen Park. You have to drive a little off the beaten path to get to it, but once you do, you’ll be amazed at the amount of completed passes you see. No one else in Detroit is doing it like this,” said longtime fan Bruce Powers.

The group has rallied around the limited visibility and have made it a point of pride being under the radar. Many of these guys stand much larger than the average Detroit native, so whenever asked in public if they play for the Lions, the guys like to respond with a cagey chuckle and say, “Sort of.”

“I’m certainly tempted to let people know I’m a Detroit Lion, but you know what, there’s nothing wrong with being unheralded. We know who the best practice squad in all of Detroit is,” said practice squad member Brock Wright.

Many within the Lions Practice Squad fandom are torn between ringing the bell aloud to let everyone know how incredible these guys are and keeping the secret to themselves before the bleachers get too crowded.

“It’s honestly a moral dilemma. The selfish side of me wants to keep this gem hidden before the experience is watered down with crowded groups of posers,” said Lions practice squad superfan Mario Hogan.
