Mets in Perfect Position To Pull Off Another Regular Season Collapse
Can the Mets pull another rabbit out of their hat?
With only a few games standing between the Mets and a Wild Card birth, and shouting distance from leading the division, the New York Mets are in perfect position to pull off another regular season collapse.
This storied franchise is ready to grab defeat from the jaws of victory, yet again, by season’s end.
“The fans expect a product, and we intend on delivering that product,” said Mickey Callaway, Mets’ Manager.
If there’s one thing we all know about the Mets, it’s that this is their time of year. It’s the time of the year where their trade deadline acquisitions that have worked out so far start take a significant downturn, where all that hope and promise goes out to pasture, and when the Mets separate themselves from the rest of the pack and plummet to the bottom of the NL East.
“The leaders and veterans on this team have been here before. They have the experience,” said Callaway. “We just have to make sure we lose one game at a time until we’re out of the playoffs, and then we’ll see what happens.”
Of course, if lightning does strike, and the Mets make the playoffs, the team is sure to be swept in the first round, delivering a loyal fanbase more of what they crave after nearly winning the World Series in 2015.
