Unlikely Group Of Misfits Win Regatta

For the first time in 50 years the Richington Yacht Club failed to win the Bridgehampton Regatta, after an upstart group of lovable misfits banded together to challenge the perennial champions. 

The unlikely new challengers, who go by the “Buoy Boyz” who are really into Pirates of the Caribbean, first decided to enter the race when they realized the prize money was exactly how much they needed to save their beloved Rec Center from becoming a condo development. A decision that would lead to one crazy coming of age summer for the plucky group. 

But having no idea what a regatta was they were in need of some serious help. Enter Sheamus O’Cleary, former captain of another ragtag group of rascals that just so happened to take down Richington 50 years ago. With O’Cleary on board they got busy refurbishing an old yacht and recruiting the super-good-looking-full-of-unreached-potential slacker, Dylan Strab, to be their captain.    

With Strab in tow and their yacht completed, the team took to learning how to sail, which they picked up extremely quickly, according to reporters by blaring Styx’s Come Sail Away on a continuous loop while practicing maneuvers. It wasn’t long before their new rivals from Richington took notice and sabotaged their boat with carpenter ants. 

Out of options, O’Cleary decided to sacrifice himself to the sea in order to save the ship. When the group disagreed he refused to stop, telling them, “you saved my life and got me back on the water, now let me save your chances of saving that Rec Center.”    

Finding new meaning in their quest and having the motivation that only losing a mentor can provide, the team rallied together to beat those jerks from Richington and save the Rec Center once and for all! Now, they were ready for 11th grade.
