American Athletes Unsure What To Do With Hands During Canadian National Anthem

The NBA has a problem on its hands, or rather with their players’ hands, the issue being that American players are unsure of what to do with their hands during renditions of the Canadian National Anthem. 

“O, Canada” a beautiful tribute to the country as a whole not only confounded the Warriors in terms of hand placement, but also in its very existence. “Before I got to the NBA I had no idea other countries had their own anthems. I thought ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ was like, the whole world’s anthem,” said Warriors forward Jordan Bell. 

Warriors coach Steve Kerr was determined to keep his team from making the same mistake. “I knew we had to do something and I remembered this great theater coach I had when I was in college. She always talked about how important it was to know what you’re doing with your hands at all times. So I flew her out to intensively work on it with us before the series,” said Kerr. 

UPDATE:

After another matchup against The Raptors, Kerr’s savvy theater coach move made a world of difference, the Warriors carried themselves perfectly during the anthems and no issues were raised. The Raptors did end up winning the game which prompted Kerr to reflect, “maybe we should have practiced basketball more, I don’t know, but at least we didn’t insult any nations this time.”
