Is The NBA Rigged? We Asked The Lakers’ 3 Newest Players, Steph Curry, Nikola Jokic, And Giannis Antetokounmpo
After a recent wave of trades to and from the Los Angeles Lakers, fans are starting to question if the competitive balance of the NBA is, to put it mildly, “off”. We asked newest Lakers acquisitions Steph Curry, Nikola Jokic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, to give their responses.
SPORTS RIOT: Do you think these trades affect the competitive balance of the league?
Antetokounmpo: You must understand the league has never been a “meritocracy.” Any system under capitalism will always have the guidance of the invisible hand.
Jokic: I’ve never been more miserable in my entire life. Los Angeles is a sunny, horseless hellhole.
Curry: MAKE THREE GO SWISH!!!
SPORTS RIOT: Is there any validity to accusations the NBA is “rigged”?
Antetokounmpo: While this may seem unfair, we still have to play the games. Realistically, between the luxury tax that will have to be paid, and the assets required for our services, using that word does not give one a complete story.
Jokic: Please, just let me eat my goulash in peace.
Curry: COACH JJ SAID I CAN SHOOT ALL THE TIME!!!
SPORTS RIOT: The trade for you three involved 6 teams, and the Lakers only gave up a 2037 conditional 2nd-round draft swap. Does that seem fair?
Antetokounmpo: Fair? Is it “fair” that the top 1% have accumulated 99% of wealth in this country? It’s not about what’s “fair”. Might, for better or worse in this society, makes right. We as the players are but mere pawns.
Jokic: Death cannot come quick enough.
Curry: THREE GO IN AND I SPLASHHHHHHHH!!
**At this point our interview was interrupted by an unexpected guest**
SPORTS RIOT: Did you want to add anything?
Anthony Davis: Fuck this league.
