Jets Resting Entire Roster During Super Bowl
Super Bowl LX will feature two teams that did whatever it took to make the big dance. So obviously, neither of those teams are the New York Jets. But according to the Jets’ front office, next year will be different. The Jets have already gotten a leg up on next year’s road to the Super Bowl by resting the entire roster during this year’s big game.
Even though next year hasn’t started yet, head coach Aaron Glenn is prioritizing his team’s health in hopes that they can sneak in.
“A lot of people got hip to our strategy when I started resting players in Week 8 of this past year, but people don’t realize playoff seeding is imperative for a Super Bowl run,” said Glenn. “I’ve looked at this wide open landscape and told the boys that with a healthy roster, we’re on our way to a possible 8th seed by the end of next year.”
The players have been receptive to Glenn’s strategy, although some have concerns.
“I showed up to the facility just to see if my ID badge still worked when I bumped into coach and he asked me if I’m ‘getting right for this Super Bowl run,’” said QB Justin Fields, “I just said ‘Yes sir,’ and he patted me on the back and said ‘we need you, Sauce!’”
When asked about former Jets QB Sam Darnold playing in the Super Bowl, Glenn shook his head.
“To be honest, we don’t have room for anyone who’s not all in on this team. I actually don’t think Mr. Darnold will be a Jet much longer.”
